The Government announced today that it has decided to postpone the launch of the inaugural retail green bond offering, for which the subscription period was originally scheduled for March 1 to 11.
Explaining its decision, the Government said Hong Kong is now at a critical juncture in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, and the postponement will reduce the risk of spreading the disease by avoiding the social contact arising from the application process.
It thanked all participating institutions for their efforts in preparing for the issuance, and appreciates the understanding of the public who are preparing to participate in the subscription.
Noting that the preparation work for the inaugural retail green bond launch has been completed, the Government said it will relaunch the subscription arrangement as soon as possible, subject to the development of the epidemic situation.
