A domestic helper at the Financial Secretary’s official residence has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19, the Financial Secretary’s Office announced today.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan and his family, as well as the domestic helpers on duty there, tested negative.
The domestic helper is mainly responsible for daily household services at the residence. Owing to the nature of her work, she occasionally stays overnight in an adjacent staff quarters.
With no recent travel history, she last performed duties on Wednesday, wore masks and followed disease prevention measures at work, the office said.
Mr Chan and his family are not the patient’s close contacts. However, after consulting the Department of Health and for the sake of prudence, he will work from home for five days until this Sunday, counting from the last day he had contact with the positive case.
The adjacent wing of the official residence has been cleaned and disinfected. The remaining domestic helpers will also get a virus test, the office added.
