Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today met Cui Jian, Head of the Sports Bureau of Guangdong, to discuss preparatory work for the 15th National Games, due to be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
They also had discussions on sports collaboration more generally between Hong Kong and Guangdong province.
Mr Yeung said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is grateful for the trust and support of the central government in providing the opportunity for Hong Kong to co-host the 2025 National Games.
“We will maintain close communication with the governments of Guangdong and the Macao SAR on the preparatory work of the sports competitions to conduct simple, safe and wonderful National Games,” the culture chief said.
He added: “We will also deepen the collaboration between Hong Kong and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on the sports front, and join hands in telling the good stories of China.”
The delegation from the Sports Bureau of Guangdong visited the Hong Kong Velodrome this morning and were due to visit the soon-to-be-completed Kai Tak Sports Park in the afternoon to learn more about Hong Kong’s preparations for the National Games.
