The Government today announced that it will provide financial assistance of $14 million under the sixth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund to PMQ for relieving rentals payable by its tenants from April to September.
During the period, rentals payable by tenants will be reduced by 75%. About 100 tenants will stand to benefit.
The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau said that the cancellation or postponement of large-scale flagship creative events in Hong Kong and the tightening of social distancing measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a sharp decrease in the number of visitors to PMQ.
The financial assistance will help relieve the heavy business pressure of tenants who are mainly startup entrepreneurs in the creative industries, it added.
