Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Algernon Yau will depart for Arequipa, Peru tomorrow to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade meeting.
During the two-day meeting, which will be held on May 17 and 18, Mr Yau and trade ministers from other member economies will participate in sessions on matters including trade liberalisation and facilitation.
They will also attend a joint meeting with the APEC Ministers Responsible for Women to discuss women's economic empowerment through trade in the Asia-Pacific region.
On the margins of the meeting, Mr Yau will meet other trade ministers to exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong on May 22. During his absence, Under Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Bernard Chan will be Acting Secretary.
