In anticipation of an increased number of inbound visitors during the Mainland’s Chinese New Year Golden Week, from February 10 to 17, Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung today chaired a meeting to co-ordinate preparation work.

Convened by the Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau, the meeting was attended by Customs and Police officials, as well as representatives of the Immigration Department, the Transport Department and various district offices. Delegates from tourism-related bodies including the Travel Industry Authority, the Tourism Board, the Travel Industry Council and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, and others representing major tourist attractions and the hotel industry, also joined.

Mr Yeung said: “Government departments and relevant organisations are working closely together, making early preparations for the deployment of resources, as well as stepping up co-ordination and communication with relevant Mainland counterparts, so as to create good travel experiences for the visitors arriving in Hong Kong during the Golden Week.”

The bureau stressed that parties will maintain communication before the Golden Week in order to formulate plans and undertake preparations for welcoming visitors to Hong Kong. Moreover, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government departments will stay in touch with Mainland authorities to monitor cross-boundary passenger traffic and make adjustments accordingly to ensure smooth clearance services.
