FS PROMOTES HK IN BAHRAIN

Financial Secretary Paul Chan promoted Hong Kong’s unique advantages to financial and business leaders in Bahrain as he continued his visit to the island country.

Mr Chan met Bahrain sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat’s Chief Executive Officer Khalid Al Rumaihi to exchange views on global financial markets and investment strategies.

Similar discussions continued during Mr Chan's meeting with Osool Asset Management Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Osool is the investment arm of the Bahrain Social Insurance Organization.

Mr Chan pointed out to both parties that Hong Kong is where international capital converges with a high concentration of financing businesses. He also highlighted the city’s unparalleled unique advantages as an important gateway to the Mainland and Asian markets that have tremendous investment potential.

The finance chief encouraged companies and funds to make full use of the strengths and convenience of Hong Kong as a platform and convergent point of industry chains, and tap the vast investment opportunities on offer to them

In his meeting with Bahraini family business group YBA Kanoo Group, Mr Chan introduced the competitive edges and investment opportunities of Hong Kong as an international financial centre, as well as measures to help family offices establish themselves in the city.

He also paid a courtesy call to Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Bahrain An Wa’er in the morning.
