A set of six stamps and two stamp sheetlets on the theme of the Hong Kong Palace Museum will go on sale on June 30, Hongkong Post announced today.
Featuring exhibits from the Palace Museum, these stamps demonstrate the profound achievements of Chinese civilisation and promote the study and appreciation of the country’s arts and culture by the public, it said in a press release.
In the six-stamp set, exhibits from the Tang, Northern Song, Yuan and Qing dynasties complimented by geometric patterns combine artfully to form a square.
Meanwhile, the two stamp sheetlets are each presented against golden yellow and vermilion backgrounds. Golden yellow represents royalty and the Forbidden City’s prosperous history, while vermilion resembles the red walls of the palace complex, enriching the stamp design and making the items precious collectibles.
