Secretary for Innovation & Technology Alfred Sit today visited the volunteer headquarters of the Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link (Anti-Coronavirus Link) at the Army Cadets Association in Kowloon Bay to show his support.

He thanked the volunteers for setting an example to the community by having a positive attitude and joining the fight against the epidemic with great effort.

During his visit, Mr Sit was shown the logistical arrangements of the supplies distribution, from backend allocation and packaging, to frontline door-to-door delivery.

Mr Sit was then given a demonstration of the anti-epidemic operation system, a management platform for volunteers and supplies inventory.

The system is set up with the help of CLP Power Hong Kong, offering one-stop processing for stock keeping, registration of volunteers, receiving of supplies and handling the demand of volunteers, matching volunteer services and supplies as well as recording volunteer service hours.

It took about two weeks for the system's design and development, testing and launch.

Mr Sit said that the demand from the community for both supplies and volunteer services under the fifth wave of epidemic is huge.

He noted that the volunteers and supplies inventory management platform is a result of collaboration of various enterprises, leveraging their technological expertise and creating synergy with their own advantages to make anti-epidemic work more efficient.

Noting that Government will start the distribution of anti-epidemic service bags soon and will thus have to mobilise district and community organisations, Mr Sit thanked the Anti-Coronavirus Link for drawing volunteers on all fronts to work together in containing the epidemic.

He also thanked the central government’s support with anti-epidemic supplies to meet the needs of Hong Kong.
