Around 140,000 sq m of temporary storage capacity is ready in anticipation of the peak shipments of supplies from the Mainland to support the upcoming compulsory universal testing exercise, the Government said today.
With the assistance of the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau’s task force of ensuring medical supplies, the Government Logistics Department has rented storage facilities in Chai Wan, Tuen Mun, Kwai Chung and Kowloon Bay. It has also secured from local enterprises loaned venues in Wan Chai and Tseung Kwan O which will be used for short-term storage from early next week.
The department says the facilities are capable of fully receiving and storing medical supplies arriving in Hong Kong from Mainland enterprises. In the course of the compulsory universal testing scheme, it will ensure the efficient handling and swift distribution of the supplies.
