The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau today said a provision of around $433.5 million under the Anti-epidemic Fund has been earmarked for providing the seventh round of support to the tourism industry.
A new round of one-off cash subsidies will be provided to travel agents, travel agents’ staff, freelance accredited tourist guides and tour escorts, tour service coach drivers as well as eligible hotels.
The Tourism Commission will send SMS notifications to eligible freelance accredited tourist guides and tour escorts as well as tour service coach drivers to inform them of the subsidy disbursement arrangements.
Travel agents and their staff who received subsidies in the last round of the subsidy scheme will also receive the SMS messages from the commission.
Licensed travel agents and their staff who have never applied for a subsidy or have not applied for a subsidy in the last round, are required to submit applications to the Tourism Commission from tomorrow to March 17.
Eligible hotels should send their applications to the Office of the Licensing Authority under the Home Affairs Department during the same period.
In addition, the Government will launch a spend-to-redeem programme for cruise-to-nowhere itineraries through the Tourism Board to foster the cruise industry's recovery.
A local passenger may enjoy a $500 discount when booking a cruise-to-nowhere itinerary with spending of at least $800 in physical retail or dining outlets during a specified period. Details will be announced by the Tourism Board separately.
